ఒకచో నేలను బవ్వళించు నొకచో ... నొప్పారు బూసెజ్జపై ,
నొకచో శాకము లారగించు నొకచో ... నూత్కృష్టశాల్యోదనం ,
బోకచో బొంత ధరించు నొక్కకతఱిన్ యోగ్యాంబరశ్రేణి ,
లెక్కకు రానీయడు కార్యసాధకుడు దుఃఖంబున్ సుఖంబున్ మదిన్ .

తాత్పర్యం:- కార్యసాధకుడు తలచుకుంటే పని నేరవేరే వరకూ పడక సుఖము కాని, తిండి సౌఖ్యము కాని, మరి ఎ సౌఖ్యము కాని చూసుకోడు. ఎన్ని కష్టములు వచ్చినా చేపట్టిన కార్యము నెరవేరు వరకూ విడిచి పెట్టడు.

" he sleeps on the bed or the floor ,
he eats a grand dinner or survives on raw vegetables ,
he wears a torn robe or an expensive dress,
he who is focused on a job, does not care for comfort or luxury until he reaches his goal."

i found my grandpa's books last week. he had quite a few old Telugu poems written in his dairies. out of those, i really like Telugu versions of నీతి శతక chapter of bhartruhari's subhaashitaani, (called " subhaashitaalu" in Telugu, originally "subhaashitaani" in sanskrit) translated by ఏనుగు లక్ష్మణ కవి in the later part of the 18th century. they are gems of Telugu literature and a great source of knowledge, valid even today. i would like to share some of them with you. i have even attempted to translate them, using my dad's help, please let me know if you find any mistakes.

ఆరంభింపరు నీచ మానవులు విఘ్నాయాస సంతస్తులై ,
ఆరంభించి పరిత్యజింతురు విఘ్నాయత్తులై మధ్యముల్,
ధీరుల్ విఘ్ననిహస్యమానులగుచు ధృత్యున్నోత్సాహులై,
ప్రారబ్థార్ధముల్ ఉజ్జగింపరు సుమీ ప్రజ్ఞానిధుల్ గావునన్ .

" people of low character do not start any task, with the fear of having to face obstacles,

people of mediocre character start tasks but abandon them when they face obstacles,

but people of valour/ great character are those who go ahead with the tasks they start, no matter how many hardships they have to face, because they are filled with abundant talent"
